Fist Club complete the PNT four-peat, while Das Fist claim a surprise KMT

Fistivus XXVI is done and dusted, and we have now officially passed the halfway point of the 2017 VFL Season!

It was a fantastically competitive day all round, with only 1 team failing to record a win, and no team going undefeated.

A huge congratulations to the record-smashing Fist Club outfit, claiming their 4th straight PNT in the Men’s Division to further extend their lead at the top of the standings and etch a new record in the FiFA books. It didn’t come easy though, having to win once again on points percentage, this time from South Melbourne Fistball Club, who put in a fantastic performance on the day to win 3 of 4 matches – including a three set thriller against Fist Club -despite fielding only 4 available players.

Despite initially being at risk of not fielding a team at all, in the absence of their captain (and FiFA President) Rolf ‘Godfister’ Petersen, Das Fist FC claimed their first KMT for the year after pipping Westside Wombats Fistball Club and FistStorm on points percentage after finishing the day in a three-way tie for wins. As Michael “McFist” Urquhart was the only Das Fist member remaining for the presentation, he accepted the trophy on their behalf before delegating the customary beer skull to Fist Club.

Jason ‘Butchers’ Beelders of South Melbourne Fistball Club claimed the Best & Fistest for the Men’s Division, while the Westside Wombats Fistball Club‘s Jessie ‘Lyonheart’ Lyon took home the Best & Fistest for the Mixed Division.

With only 3 Fistivi remaining, the standings for both leagues now appear to have clear leaders, with Fist Club & FistStorm in the box seat to claim their respective 2017 titles. Their cause seems to have been greatly helped by their main competition – the Bay City Fisters – having a dirty day at the office in both divisions, the Geelong-based outfit falling back to the pack after claiming just 1 win between the 2 teams.

After a short winter break, the next Fistivus with be on August 12th. More details to follow as they come.

Fist on!
